I am just back from a short break in Amsterdam- a few days of watching bikes and eating fabulous food.
We went to De Kas which is a wonderful restaurant set in a conservatory on the outskirts of Amsterdam there is a set menu of locally sourced and mostly organic food which is served with carefully chosen wines. All the pressure is off because the choices have been made and you are free to relax and talk and people watch…. a very international clientele.
I cannot recommend De Kas highly enough, can't wait to go back.

The trip was designed around the idea of finding a soul sister shop to Verandah and I think we have found one-watch this space! It would be such fun to collaborate with a friend across the water in Amsterdam.

Here are some inspiring shop windows that I liked

And some bright and cheerful bikes!

Usually I try to print my own editions in runs of 75-either lino or
wood cuts -but for my "CuriousChickens" design I wanted to make the
leap and ask the Curwen Press to print the edition as a lithograph.
I spoke to Jenny Rowland and visited her in the grounds of the
Chilford vinyard where the Curwen studio has made its home.
The building has a lovely industrial unit feel to it. Practical and
roomy with piles and piles of fascinating machinery and past prints
stacked up/in plans chests and framed on the walls. A veritable
Alladins cave.
I enjoyed meeting everyone the first morning and was helped by Mike to
asses my coda-trace artwork and watch as the these were translated
onto metal sheets and fed into the offset litho press.
We proofed each colour as it came off the machine and checked the
registration. Each stage was exciting and Mike very patient as I made
my decisions.
The whole process was enjoyable and I was made to feel very much at
home.
Eventually I relaxed enough to work on my new print of Blickling Hall-
using the Curwens lightbox as I waited for my finished edition to
emerge.
An interview on radio 4 captures the atmosphere beautifully.
I look forward to working there again soon.
